The collection consists of records maintained by John E. Jervis from 1888-1974. Also included in the collection are the original minutes of the founding years (1888-1891) of Local 384 (Asheville, N.C.) of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America detailing the union's campaign for the 9-hour workday and records of the North Carolina State Federation of Labor (1992, 1948).
